Identity: Prelude to Purpose

Brett Pyle

How many times in life do we challenge ourselves, and our businesses, with lofty goals only to discover that their achievement ultimately fails to satisfy? When articulating a vision, setting goals and choosing where to invest our time, do we think deeply enough about:

· Who we are?

· What we’re passionate about?

· What we, and our companies, are uniquely gifted to accomplish?

· Why any of these things really matter in the first place?

Participants in this workshop begin by identifying what truly matters most to them, both professionally and personally. They’re then led on a journey of deep reflection to clarify the all-important drivers behind those priorities – the ‘why’ behind the ‘what’ – to gain insight about their purpose and what a life of true significance means to them.

It's a big, deep, truly unforgettable experience that many have called ‘transformational.’ As such, it’s perfect for demonstrating the uniqueness of Vistage/TEC to prospective member-guests, and for bonding your group more deeply together.

Brett conducts this highly interactive workshop by employing artful storytelling, spontaneous humor, and authentic vulnerability to create a safe environment for members to embrace and express their own emotions. He sometimes even taps into his Broadway-actor parents' heritage to act out a movie scene or two to craft a one-of-a-kind experience that will be remembered for years to come.

Your Extraordinary Why is appropriate for CE, SB, Key, EL & AL Groups. It’s ideally suited for Retreats, with or without spouses. Inviting other company guests to attend is discouraged as their presence can inhibit member openness and sharing.

Value to Member

Participants leave with deeper understanding of their own purpose and their most compelling drivers in life. They also identify relationships that might need attention and learn a powerful strategy for pressing 'reset' to get them back on-track. They are introduced to a powerful methodology called 'conscience-centered goal setting' to ensure they achieve significance in life vs. settling for mere success.

Value to Chairs: From the outset this workshop takes members deep and builds group cohesion through significance-based conversations. The written goals developed by

members set the stage for future accountability conversations in one-to-ones and group meetings.
