Keynote: Mastering Difficult Conversations

Difficult conversations – whether we choose to engage in them or avoid them – cause a tremendous amount of stress and friction in both professional and personal relationships. But what if there were ways to make these conversations both more successful – and less painful?
In this session, we begin by identifying the five most common conversation “derailers” – the behaviors and conditions that most often contribute to conversations going off the rails. Once we understand why things so often go badly, we turn our attention to how to consistently ensure that conversations go better. Here, we focus on four specific, actionable strategies that can help get a difficult conversation back on track – or, even better, prevent it from going downhill in the first place.
After 10+ years of sharing my original Growth Mindset session with Vistage leaders around the world, this new session brings the same combination of rigorous research and deep practical experience to the art and science of mastering difficult conversations.

How Companies Undermine Employee Engagement and Accountability, and What to do About It!

Course Description:

Frustrated with the attitudes of your team members? Do you see a downward slide in how much people seem to care about their work? Are people complaining about a lack of accountability? Most leaders don’t fully understand the most important factors that drive employee engagement and accountability, and often lack a clear roadmap to powerfully shift the culture on their teams and in their companies to one of joyful engagement and high performance. There’s plenty of ivory-tower research on employee engagement and morale, and then there’s the real world. Meg’s experience working deeply inside dozens of organizations has taught her the most important, practical strategies to actually shift the mindsets of teams from one of compliance to commitment, and common ways companies undermine employee engagement without realizing it.

This talk will provide a research-based framework and powerful understanding in what ACTUALLY drives engagement and the hidden dynamics that erode engagement. And, best of all, participants will leave with a clear vision and practical steps to take to immediately and powerfully shift the attitudes and mindsets of their teams.

TDOers, You Were Lied To

In this lecture, we will explore our approach to saving compromised teeth through the lens of the endo-restorative relationship. We will highlight ideal techniques, materials, and workflows—many of which are new or differ from what endodontists typically encounter. The lecture will showcase various clinical scenarios, including documentation and long-term follow-up. Emphasis will be placed on managing these cases in a quality-oriented, fee-for-service environment.

Topics covered will include large endodontic infections, traumatized teeth, retreatment, deep margin elevation, anterior esthetics, post and core build-ups, maintaining gingival health, class II restorations, and crown and bridge fabrication. We will also touch on considerations for replacing teeth with dental implants.

Finally, we will discuss key elements of a successful endodontist-restorative dentist relationship.

New Adventures with an Operating Microscope

Decades ago, the introduction of the operating microscope revolutionized Endodontics. The pace of technological advancement in the fields of medicine, artificial intelligence and computer vision is increasing rapidly. This has brought sophisticated technological development to the operating microscope. Dynamic Navigation and Augmented Reality have the potential to improve the accuracy, precision and ergonomics of endodontic treatment performed with the operating microscope while allowing the provision of minimally invasive procedures. Keeping the operating microscope as the cornerstone, this presentation will cover the fundamental principles, the sophisticated clinical setup and the different clinical applications of Dynamic Navigation and Augmented Reality in Endodontics using a series of clinical cases completed in the presenter’s private Endodontic practice.
