Dr. Randolph Cross is an endodontist and researcher focused on objective assessment of root canal disinfection using a chairside ATP test. He is the owner of Watsonville Endodontics in California, where he has investigated, patented, and uses ATP bioluminescence testing to quantify disinfection levels prior to obturation. His work aims to improve clinical outcomes and help determine which teeth require additional disinfection before completion.
His clinical research on ATP-based disinfection assessment has been published in Annali di Stomatologia and the Journal of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, examining how ATP levels correlate with canal cleanliness across different irrigation protocols and clinical scenarios. He developed the Endocator, an ATP detection device used in his practice and studied in peer-reviewed investigations. Dr. Cross serves as a Key Opinion Leader for Vista Apex and EndoDirect, providing clinical input on endodontic technologies and research applications.
An international lecturer, Dr. Cross is a keynote speaker at the Indian Association of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics (IACDE) Annual Conference in Bengaluru (November 2026) and a featured speaker at AAE 2027. He regularly lectures to endodontic residents at USC and UCSF on disinfection science and evidence-based clinical protocols. His background in molecular biology and biochemistry informs his approach to clinical research and understanding disinfection mechanisms.
Dr. Cross earned his degree from UC Davis, his dental degree from UCSF, and his endodontic certificate from USC.
