Documentation through a microscope utilizes a combination of both art and science. Capturing high-quality digital images and video takes place not only with a specific armamentarium of equipment, but through ergonomic practices that elevate ordinary results to extraordinary results. Many authors have cited reasons for the importance of regular digital photography in the dental office, including: diagnosis and treatment planning, dental-legal documentation, forensic documentation, insurance verification, patient and referral education, marketing, and communication with laboratories, dental team members, and colleagues. The goal of this lecture will be to get an individual “up and running” with microscope documentation utilizing the current knowledge and equipment available.
